Nanosecond Daydream

Mom and I went to Austin together this weekend to attend a wedding of a longtime family friend. We decided to make it a girls weekend, and our first mother daughter road trip! We toured the LBJ Presidential Library, got mani’s and pedi’s and ate tons of incredible food while soaking up the beautiful weather. On our way home from Austin we meandered up I-35 stopping at a few antique stores (found great treasure!) and were very much looking forward to treating ourselves to a Starbucks in Hillsboro.

Apparently mom stops at the same Starbucks in Hillsboro every time she drives home up 35. We were engaged in delightful conversation, including how much we were looking forward to the Starbucks, when we noticed it passing by out the window. We had daydreamed for a nanosecond and there the opportunity went, right in the rearview mirror.

Life and ministry are the same. You get distracted by the stuff of life for a nanosecond and you can miss an opportunity to serve God. You can daydream about serving, or saying yes to your calling, for a nanosecond and miss the opportunity to witness or disciple. Don’t miss the opportunity to say to God. The opportunity can pass by in a nanosecond.

James 4:14 – Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

John 15:16 – You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

2 Thessalonians 2:14 – He called you to this through our gospel that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Expect Joy

Mom of two with a normal, crazy, messy life. There's never a dull moment in the Allmand house and that's probably a dramatic understatement. Looking forward to sharing and commiserating with you over our successes and trials in life!
