Just Drive

It seems that everyone goes out to eat on Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter, and they all arrive at the same restaurant at the same time.  This year was no exception.  Reed wanted to celebrate his special day, Father’s Day, at Pappadeaux and upon arriving we realized he wasn’t alone in that desire.  The parking lot was packed.  We needed a game plan quick because it wasn’t looking good for him to be able to eat his lobster bisque!  We decided he should go in and get us on the list while I worked on finding a parking spot.

I drove around and around.  Every spot was taken.  The overflow parking was taken.  The parking in the back of the restaurant was full.  Cars were “parked” on aisles and at the end of aisles just waiting on people to walk out to their car so they could pounce on them and take their spot.  They were literally stalking people!

There was no way we were going to get a spot anytime soon.  The “stalkers” were getting all the spots, and new stalkers took up the former stalkers stalking post!  I’m not cut throat enough for this parking experience so I decide to drive.  Didn’t really have a plan but figured if I kept driving maybe something would open up and work out.  I relinquished control, let go of strategy, and just drove.

As I rounded the corner of the restaurant I saw it.  THE it!  Front row parking spot, all just for me.  And not just any front row parking spot, but one that didn’t recently have someone pull out of it and one that wasn’t “stalked” by the stalker cars.  It was a clean, truly empty, random, blessing from God, spot.

Let go of your plan today.  The one you’re hanging onto even though you can feel God tugging at your heart, let it go!  Let go of the car stalking my friend.  God has a much bigger plan for you and he wants to bless you with his abundance of grace, mercy, love and joy.  When you let go of “me” and “my” and instead follow “Him” and His” your life becomes free in a way you can only imagine.

In ministry you can sit and wait and stalk for the next opportunity to have a ministry or can just drive and see where God leads.  Pray, fast, pray without ceasing and listen to the word of God.  Let Him guide you.
