It’s all about me. No, really. It’s crazy how every moment of every day we are programed to think about me, me, me. What time am I going to wake up? What time do I have to be at work? What am I going to feed the kids? How much gas is in my car? What am I going to do? How am I going to make ends meet? The list goes on an on. It’s always all about us, our plan, our way, our doing.
What a narrow minded existence we have. What incredible stress we put on our shoulders. What arrogance.
And in that same moment, the moment of the air being sucked out of the room because yes, I really did just say that… What an incredibly loving God we have to be ruler of all, answerer of all questions, provider of all things, and stress bearer for all. Our God so loves us that when we say “How am I going to make it work?” he says “You can’t because I am the truth and the way. Follow me.” He so loves us that when we say “How can I make ends meet?” he responds “You can’t because I am already everything that you need. Follow me.” Our God so loves us that when we cry out “I just can’t take this stress anymore!” he says “My child, lay your worries a my feet. This isn’t your cross to bear because I have already bore it for you.”
My sister, stop. Take time and stop today. Stop the constant me, me, me. Stop the worry. Stop the stress. The next time you think the words “I” or “me” in your brain, STOP. Give the glory to God for what he has done and what he will continue to do. Praise Him for all things, good and bad, big and small. Our God is a great and mighty God deserving of all praise. And trust me, he is big enough for our problems and stresses. He’s already conquered them anyhow…
John 14:6 – Jesus answered them, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Philippians 4:19 – And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
