Lights! Camera! Action!

Lights!  Camera!  Action!  And then what?  Did your brain run to a moment of pure joy as you were about to shine?  Or were you like me and fear, terror and the overwhelming sense to RUN took over?  I’d freeze, just absolutely freeze.

My parents had my sister and I in acting when we were little.  We performed in theatrical stage performances which included the famous Dickens on the Strand festival.  Thousands and thousands of people (at least that’s what it felt like) came out to see the parade and the performance.  It was one of the must see attractions on the Strand in Galveston, TX.

I was awful, absolutely not cut out for acting.  I looked like someone on a stage who was acting like they were acting.  It was that bad, no joke.  My sister on the other hand was incredible.  God blessed her with so many creative talents.  She can sing (opera), she can play multiple instruments, she can act, the list just goes on and on.  The funny thing is, I’m more of an extrovert and my sister is more of an introvert.  We both shine in ways that are uncharacteristic for our core attributes.

When that camera turns on, Amy transforms instantly into her character, and oh how she plays it so convincingly well.  When the camera turns on for me, I freeze, I have no lines, I have no character, all I have is myself.

What does your stage look like in your head?  What script have you written for the world to hear?  Who is your audience as you deliver the performance directly to their heart? What are you going to do?  What are you going to say?  Will your thoughts, behaviors, actions, and deeds be those that glorify God?  Have you considered where God fits into the script of the story of your life?

Your stage is the world.  The spotlights, the booms (mics), they are all pointing to you.  God is shining his light upon you so that He may be glorified through you.  Your words and proclamations will be echoed for all to hear.  Your audience is the world.  We are listening to everything you say.  We watch everything you do.  Your script will be adapted into their script, and bits and pieces of it will be used to touch every single person of the human race.  So how can you glorify God through your word and deed while on a stage for the world to see?  Let’s see…

Ready.  Set.  Action!

Habakkuk 2:14 – For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Isaiah 25:1 – O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will give thanks to your name; for you have worked wonders.  Plans formed long ago with perfect faithfulness.

Revelation 4:11 – Worthy are you, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for you created all things, and because of your will they existed, and were created.

Isaiah 66:18-18 – For I know their works and their thoughts; the time is coming to gather all nations and tongues.  And they shall come and see My glory.  “I will set a sign among them and will send survivors from them to the nations: Narshish, Lud, Medshech, Tubal an Javan, to the distant coastland that have neither heard My fame nor seen My glory And they will declare My glory among the nations.
